Jayne Mederios, Volunteer Coordinator
Jayne graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science degree from Portland State University in 2004 and was employed as Activity Director at Hawks Ridge for the last 5-1/2 years. When residents were declining, she visited with them, listened to their stories, tried to make them more comfortable, ran errands, and made them laugh. “It was a great honor to serve them and watch their process. As a result, my thoughts on death are much less fearful.”
Jayne joined Heart of Hospice in January 2011–was drawn to the special, uplifting events she watched for some of the very first Heart of Hospice patients.
Jayne is the 2nd youngest of 5 children, has one adult son, mentors young girls, and is engaged to Alek. She enjoys doing interesting things; attending Shakespeare at Stonehenge, visits to old cemeteries, and listening to the stories of elderly people.
