“We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”—Mother Theresa

Heart-to-Heart Hospice Volunteers

In Hospice we learn that every moment of life is a treasure. Our Volunteers give the priceless gift of their time. We simply wouldn’t be who we are without them and the support they provide to our patients, families, and our staff.

A few areas where volunteers are utilized at Heart of Hospice include providing emotional, spiritual, and physical support to patients and families. This can include helping in the office, with the patient/family, or at special events like the Butterfly Release. Some examples of volunteer services include:

  • Visit with patients
  • Help patients write life story
  • Shop for personal items
  • Household tasks
  • Caregiver respite
  • Specialized skills (i.e. beautician, barber)
  • Nursing Home or Care Center visits
  • Transportation to physicians
  • Pick up and deliver medications
  • Special events

Heart of Hospice will provide you with training so you will feel comfortable being a Heart-to-Heart Volunteer. As a Heart-to-Heart volunteer you will have the information and support to help patients and families.

Youth Heart of Hospice Volunteers (YoHOH’s)

We are very honored and blessed to have one of the very few active Youth Hospice Volunteer programs in the nation. These local High School teens share their smiles and youthful enthusiasm with our patients and families on special occasions ranging from birthdays and holidays to yard clean up.
